U4N and ARC Raiders Phantom Targets Part 2: What To Prepare
ARC Raiders BluePrints can be part of a useful preparation routine for players getting ready for Update 1.42, but they are only one part of the bigger picture. Phantom Targets Part 2 arrives on August 18, bringing new challenges and continuing the investigation into the unusual radar signals discovered by Shani.
For players who have been working through ARC Raiders BluePrints and other progression goals, the timing of the update is worth paying attention to. The Phantom Targets Player Project ends on September 6, which means Raiders have only a limited period to finish the second half of the investigation and collect its rewards.
A Direct Continuation Of The Investigation
Phantom Targets Part 2 is expected to continue the story established during Part 1 rather than introducing a completely unrelated activity.
The first part involved several objective-based stages connected to ARC activity. Raiders had to upgrade cargo elevator antennas, damage specific ARC components, and complete destruction tasks using different elemental methods.
Part 2 will continue that investigation with new stages designed to help triangulate the abnormal signals. The exact objectives will become clearer once the update is live, but players should expect the same general combination of exploration, combat, and task completion.
This makes completing Part 1 ahead of time especially useful. There is little benefit in leaving old objectives unfinished when the new content is about to arrive.
Why Your Inventory Matters
The community has already started discussing which weapons and equipment could be useful for the final phase. Fire damage is one area Raiders should consider preparing for, with Blaze Grenades being an obvious item to keep available.
Energy weapons are another potential option. Jupiter and Aphelion can provide useful alternatives when a normal weapon is not the best choice for a particular ARC encounter.
That does not mean every player needs to completely rebuild their loadout before August 18. The information circulating before release is partly based on expectations and discoveries rather than confirmed mission requirements.
A better approach is to maintain several options. If a challenge asks for a specific type of damage, having the relevant equipment already stored saves a trip back to prepare.
Don't Ignore Part 1
The easiest preparation task is also the one some players may overlook. Complete the first three Phantom Targets stages if you have not already done so.
The Part 1 objectives can require some targeted farming, particularly when dealing with pop triggers, wasp drivers, and leaper pulse units. Elemental destruction tasks can also take time if you normally focus on a single weapon setup.
Finishing everything before the new content arrives means you can immediately concentrate on Part 2. It also gives you more time to deal with difficult objectives instead of trying to complete the entire project near the September deadline.
A New Premium Bundle
The August 18 update is also bringing the Tick Hunter Cosmetic Set to the store.
The bundle contains the Tick Hunter outfit, Field Telephone backpack, Tick Trophy weapon charm, Spider Tattoo, and 2,400 Raider Tokens. It will be available through the Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation stores.
For collectors, the bundle is an optional extra rather than part of the core event progression. Its theme does, however, fit the ARC-focused atmosphere of Phantom Targets and the wider investigation.
Possible Hidden Content
The most uncertain part of Update 1.42 comes from community discoveries. Data miners have reportedly found references to altered or corrupted ARC machine components in the game files.
These references are particularly interesting because they seem to fit the idea behind the phantom signals. There has also been speculation about a hidden or altered map condition that could appear during the event's climax.
Raiders should remain cautious about these reports. File references do not automatically mean that every discovered element will appear in the live game. Until the developer confirms the content, it is better to view these findings as possibilities.
Make The Most Of The Event Window
With September 6 marking the end of the Phantom Targets Player Project, players should avoid treating August 18 as something they can come back to whenever they feel like it. Having useful supplies and ARC Items ready can make the new objectives much easier to approach.
For Raiders who prefer to save time, being prepared is more practical than rushing through the final days. Clear Part 1 now, keep several weapon types available, and leave enough room for experimentation once Part 2 goes live.
